I've been gone for a while due to school related issues. Namely, getting an 'A' but I don't know yet if my efforts have been fruitful so don't ask. Attention mediaphiles, I'm thinking of a scene from a movie that I just can't place. It wound up in a segment of my dream last night and it is driving me crazy. Here goes: a man (young, black, popular actor?) is standing in front of a pair of ginormous monster legs (up to the knee, hairy, fish-net stockings, heels) apologizing for not calling and commenting how she has grown. That is all I have for you, no further plot sticks out in my mind or the name of the actor (Possibly that guy that played "Ruby" from Final Element). Thai Artist Bakes Edible 'Body Parts'

POTHARAM, Thailand - Inside a dark room, realistic-looking "human body parts" are stacked on shelves and hanging on meat hooks. The place looks like a mortuary or the lair of a serial killer, but in fact, it's a bakery. What appears to be putrefying body parts are the bread sculptures of 28-year-old art student Kittiwat Unarrom.

"Of course, people were shocked and thought that I was mad when they saw the works. But once they knew the idea behind it, they understood and became interested in the work itself, instead of thinking that I am crazy," said the fine arts masters degree student.

He hopes his realistic artwork will make people ponder whether they are consuming food, or food is consuming them.

"Everyone's life is rushed nowadays, even when it comes to eating," he said. "When we eat, we don't think about our health or safety, we only think of our taste buds."

As an undergraduate art student, Kittiwat started painting portraits. He then moved to mixed media and finally dough — a natural medium for him since his family runs a bakery.

Along with edible human heads crafted from dough, chocolate, raisins and cashews, Kittiwat makes human arms, feet, and chicken and pig parts. He uses anatomy books and his vivid memories of visiting a forensics museum to create the human parts.

He now is receiving regular orders from the curious and from pranksters who want to surprise their friends or colleagues, but that's a minor sideline.

By the end of the year, Kittiwat's confectionary slaughterhouse will go on display at Bangkok's Silpakorn University. It's his final dissertation, and he hopes it will secure him a master of arts degree.

"When people see the bread, they don't want to eat it. But when they taste it, it's just normal bread," he said. "The lesson is 'don't judge just by outer appearances.'"

Briton Finds Venomous Centipede in House

LONDON - Aaron Balick expected to find a tiny mouse rustling behind the TV in his apartment. Instead, he found a venomous giant centipede that somehow hitched a ride from South America to Britain.

"Thinking it was a mouse, I went to investigate the sound. The sound was coming from under some papers which I lifted, expecting to see the mouse scamper away," the 32-year-old psychotherapist said Wednesday. "Instead, when I lifted the papers, I saw this prehistoric looking animal skitter away behind a stack of books."

He trapped the 9-inch-long creature between a stack of books and put it in a plastic container.

The next day he took it to Britain's Natural History Museum, which identified the insect as a Scolopendra gigantea — the world's biggest species of centipede.

Stuart Hine, an entomologist at the museum, said it was likely the centipede hitched a ride aboard a freighter, likely with a shipment of fruit.

"Dealing with over 4,000 public and commercial inquiries every year, we have come to expect the unexpected. However, when Aaron produced this beast from his bag I was staggered," Hine said. "Not even I expected to be presented with this."

The Scolopendra gigantea has front claws that are adapted to deliver venom when it stings, which can lead to a blistering rash, nausea and fever. The sting is rarely life-threatening, but painful.

Grand Canyon to Get Glass-Bottomed Walk

PHOENIX - Great views — and plenty of goosebumps for those afraid of heights.

An American Indian tribe with land along the Grand Canyon is planning to build a glass-bottomed walkway that will jut out 70 feet from the canyon's edge.

The horseshoe-shaped skywalk, expected to open in January, is part of the Hualapai Tribe's $40 million effort to turn 1,000 acres of reservation land into a tourist destination that will also feature an Indian village and Western-themed town.

The tribe's reservation is some 200 miles by road to the west of the section of the Grand Canyon National Park that most tourists visit.

The walkway, with a glass bottom and sides, will be supported by steel beams and will accommodate 120 people, though it is designed to hold 72 million pounds, said Sheri Yellowhawk, chief executive officer of the Grand Canyon Resort Corp., the tribal-owned company that is overseeing the project.

"You're basically looking 4,000 feet down. It's a whole new way to experience the Grand Canyon," Yellowhawk said.

Admission will be $25.

The project is still seeking an insurer, said architect David Jin, who said he came up with the skywalk idea while visiting the canyon in 1996.

In my ongoing battle for increasing khaki-clad, white bread analitude paying my credit card on time won't do. Oh no, I pay it before I even get my bill. How then, do I acquire a late fee? To make a long story short, calls made, financial records researched, late fee waived, and I triumph again! Next week, more gelatin based "salad" recipes.

For those who were not in the know, control_group and I were in Door County all week. Parks were visited, ice cream was consumed, and many rolls of film were spent. Here is a list of things that need to be said (in no particular order).

1. Places with "cave" or "bluff" or "preserve" in their title are neat.

2. Mini golf is the COOLEST! (especially when I win)

3. Skirts + gocarts= entertained bystanders

4. Happy Birthday (late) back2me. I still owe you beer.

5. I now own glowing balls. Further details upon request.

6. control_group is not only the best but he takes a good picture as well.

7. Vacations are fun but returning to work is not.

All in all we had a good time but its also nice to be home. See you all around.

I'm off to jury duty. Off to do my part for the fair city I love so much and a legal system I'm "just friends" with. The nerd that I am, I'm actually excited about the prospect of being on a jury. Much to my disappointment though, I heard they don't want nurses. To add to my undesirability as a juror my parents are both lawyers (I know just enough about the law to be an asshole without being useful) and I watch CourtTV like it was going out of style. Ah well, a girl can dream can't she? At least I'm not a work!
